I have had the same pair of sunglasses for over a year now, that's a miracle to me. When I buy my sunglasses, I buy them 4 or 5 pairs at a time from Wal-Mart of King-Souper's because they are forever getting smashed up. Well for some reason the pair that I've been wearing since I got to Iraq have just lasted and lasted, I was very impressed. Today though, they finally had enough. I just walked outside and stopped and looked around for a minute and *pop!* they snapped in half, sad! I've got backups but still, this is tragic to me.
It's something about the heat or the sun affecting the plastic I'm sure. I remember once hot summer day in Afghanistan and a co-worker was having a heated discussion with some idiot pilot about something and *bam!* his cheap knock-off sunglasses just exploded! The timing couldn't have been more perfect because it scared the hell out of the idiot that he was talking to and he played it off perfectly by slamming what was left of them on the ground. Talk about angry eyes.
Ah well *sigh* Time to go get acquainted with some new glasses :(
