A great book!

I just finished reading Nancy Reagan’s book of letters that Ronald Reagan wrote her throughout their marriage; it was absolutely enlightening and profoundly moving. What amazed me was how vibrant and completely 110% heartfelt the love between these two remarkable people was even after more than 50 years. While I have devoted a lot of thought to marriage and the future, it had never even occurred to me to wonder about the evolution of love over a lifetime, or even beyond. It tied in nicely with a speech that I read not too long ago advising young people to counsel with our elders and learn from them. I love it when the world starts to make sense!

I’m actually pretty grateful that the generator mechanics came by and killed the power to my office today. Even though it turned my office into a 120 degree sweatbox for a couple of hours, it disconnected me from the computer for long enough to read that book and learn a thing or two. I need to start doing that more often on my own, without being compelled by the generator mechanics lol. There are a lot of things I should be doing.

Ahhhhh…and vacation thoughts fill my mind! The thought of getting away from here for a bit, being able to sleep in occasionally, and even (especially!) being able to choose the company that I keep, that all sounds so wonderful right now. While my body may be in the desert, my mind is most definitely elsewhere:

Even though I once wrecked a nice car on this little road, I still have very fond memories of it. It is one of the most picturesque stretches of road that I have ever seen anywhere in the world. It runs about 5 or 6 km's from Landstuhl to Mittelbrunn, the village I lived in near Ramstein.

I am most definitely not a golfer, but I thoroughly enjoy the driving range.

The old AFRC resort at Chiemsee. I have a million memories of from my 17+ years visiting there. I mooned a whole shipload (that's shipload lol) of people from this dock.

Just one of many stops when taking an RB from Hanau to Giessen.
