My alarm went off a little early today so that I could take care of some stuff on the internet this morning but as I woke up I could hear a storm outside slapping sheets of rain against my hooch. I also heard the faint *ping! ping!* of my internet antenna cable banging in the wind against the mounting pole. I didn't want it to collapse so I jumped out of bed and ran over to the door and saw that the support wires for my antenna pole had come loose during the storm and the entire setup was swaying violently back and forth in the wind.
I grabbed my flashlight and knife and ran outside and climbed up the concrete T-wall to start reattaching the support wires. I was concentrating so hard for a few minutes that I didn't realize that I wasn't alone in the darkness. It wasn't until I finished tying off the first cable that I glanced down at the ground to try to figure out how to get off of my perilous perch that I saw 3 of our contract security guys from
They had a little huddle and then one of them, obviously the leader, cleared his throat and said in an absolutely comical Indian accent, "Sir, we all think you should come down. Your situation looks quite dangerous. Please come down, sir."
I took his advice and climbed down and showed them what I was doing but they still didn't appear entirely convinced that I wasn't an idiot and they wandered away a short distance and kept watching as I climbed the other T-walls to finish tying everything down. The whole experience was somewhat exhilarating, after all it isn't everyday that I get to run around in my underwear while its raining, much less climb on stuff.
So today looks to be a productive day, before 0600 I had already made a fool of myself, saved my internet setup, and had a wonderful breakfast. Who knows what the rest of the day will hold?
