Today is a big day for me! I've been in-processing with this new company for almost 3 weeks now. In-processing is probably a less than accurate description because it implies action. Altogether I would say that I spent probably 8 hours these past 3 weeks actually with work related activity. The rest of the time I've spent cruising around town, lounging in my posh hotel room, swimming in the pool, at the gym, and I even went wind-surfing for the first time. I do enjoy some down-time now and then but this has just been ridiculous. I've been soooooo bored it's pathetic.
There have been all kinds of paperwork hassles with security clearances and stuff that needs to be released and transferred to my new company and that's why I've been sitting around. So today when I went to the evening briefing, I was pretty surprised to hear my name called as somebody flying out in the morning. I am so excited! When I left Kandahar just over 2 years ago, I never ever thought I would get the opportunity to see that place again. Here I go!
